In general, banana prices underwent significant fluctuations in all countries, except for the United States, where they remained relatively stable throughout the majority of the period. Moreover, Japan consistently had the highest banana prices, while the United States consistently had the lowest.

Turning to Japan, the cost of one kilogram of bananas started at nearly 2 US dollars and experienced a sharp increase, peaking at around 2.8 in 1995. Although there was a rise between 1997 and 1999, the banana price in Japan dropped to a low of just above 1.5 US dollars per kilogram before recovering and ending at 2.5. In contrast, bananas in the United States began at approximately 0.7 US dollars, followed by a slight increase to around 1.1 a year later, and then remained relatively steady until the end of the timeframe.

Examining France, the price of bananas remained stable at approximately 1.7 US dollars per kilogram from 1994 to 1997. However, afterwards, it experienced significant fluctuations, reaching its highest point in 2001 at $$1.7 and its lowest point in 2003 at $$1, before ending at just over 1.5 in 2004. The banana costs in Germany closely mirrored this fluctuating pattern, hovering around the 1.4 US dollar mark during the initial seven years and gradually decreasing to about 1.2 in 2004.
